On May 5, we are excited to report, Harriet Beecher Stowe was inducted into the Connecticut Hall of Fame which recognizes current or former residents who have distinguished themselves in their profession and performed outstanding service to our state or nation. According to CT Senator Joseph Crisco “Harriet Beecher Stowe was an educator whose most famous book Uncle Tom’s Cabin taught 19th century America the timeless lesson about the immoral nature of slavery.”
The ceremony was attended by Connecticut legislators, friends of Stowe and the staff of the Harriet Beecher Stowe Center. Stowe is also a member of the Connecticut Women’s Hall of Fame. We couldn’t be happier that Stowe has been recognized by Connecticut for her 200th birthday.
